Visit from our Local Coastguard Team

Last Thursday, members of the coastguard attended Ashton Community Science College to give a safety talk to some students about beach and coastal safety.

They explained what coastguard volunteers do, how to stay safe at the coast and gave an overview of our rescue equipment.

Students listened and interacted with the crew and really took in the important message of being safe near the sea. The presentation included how to ring 999 and ask for the coastguard as well as what to say when the call taker answers the call.

Overall it was an experience enjoyed by all.
